« For the last couple of years one of my biggest curatorial projects was the Lithuanian Pavilion at the 59th Venice biennale. We started working on it in summer 2020, just after the first wave of coronavirus subsided, and were preparing for the opening facing the brutal and unjustifiable Russian invasion and war in Ukraine.

I keep asking myself what can art do in the time of such an overwhelming crisis? Can it help render the world into some better place? Is it really able to imagine and propose ways out outside of the exhibition room? Can it remain useful when one is struggling to survive? »

During the curatorial talk Neringa Bumblienė will speak about her recent contemporary art projects such as a solo show by Michael Rakowitz, which due to coronavirus restrictions was prepared and installed in Vilnius without the artist being present and an in-depth conversation they had during the process.

Followed by a solo show by Robertas Narkus, opened just after the first coronavirus wave, which focused on human to object relation that substituted previously dominated human to human. And telling more about the Lithuanian Pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia.
