Alessandra Saviotti is a curator and art educator. She is a PhD researcher at the Liverpool John Moores University and is an advisor for Unidee Residency Programmes and Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto. She focuses on socially engaged art, collaborative practices, and Arte Útil (art as a tool). Since 2014 she has been a member of the Asociación de Arte Útil founded by Tania Bruguera, aiming to emancipate usership around the Arte Útil Archive. Alessandra studied at IUAV, Venice, and she was a Jan van Eyck Academie fellow in Maastricht (NL). She curated programmes and delivered talks & workshops worldwide.

During her ACROSS residency on the French Riviera in January, Alessandra Saviotti will research how alternative education models that stem from art could be successfully activated within the institutions of art and education, fostering self-sustainability and hacking the institutions themselves.

She will explore notions such as interdependence, solidarity and cooperation and the idea of the artwork as a manual for social transformation.
